A Nebula technician reviewing test notes at the training switchboard

Careers · Apprentice Program

Start your trade on real HV work.

Learn alongside experienced high voltage electricians, with genuine exposure to a technical industry and a visible pathway from day one.

What the program is built on.

An apprenticeship at Nebula is not a rotation through the easy jobs. It is a place in a high voltage crew, with the training, the supervision and the equipment to grow into it.

01 Learn alongside experienced HV electricians

You are placed with a crew from the start, on Nebula sites and Nebula equipment. The people beside you have terminated, jointed, switched and commissioned the plant you are learning on.

02 Genuine exposure to a technical industry

Substations, switchgear, protection and control, data centre and network work, LV through to 132kV. The scope is the real scope, not the peripheral tasks.

03 A massive focus on safety

Safety is the first thing you learn and the thing that never stops being checked. Plan it properly. Speak up. Look out for the person beside you. Nobody is expected to know it all on day one, and nobody is expected to guess.

04 Practical, hands-on development

Nebula runs its own training facility with real high voltage and electrical equipment and dedicated training units. You practise in a controlled environment first, then take it to site.

05 Understanding the why, not just following instructions

Ask questions. See how decisions get made. You are expected to understand why a job is done a certain way, because that is what keeps you safe when the job is not the one in the manual.

06 Increasing responsibility as capability develops

Responsibility is earned in steps, and each step is deliberate. As your capability grows, so does what you are trusted with.

07 A visible pathway for development

You can see where you are going. The pathway below sets out what each year is for and what changes as you move through it.

Where an apprenticeship at Nebula leads.

Four years, each with more responsibility than the last. Supervision steps back as capability steps forward.

  1. Year 1

    Foundations

Safety systems, site induction, tools and the basics of electrical work. Time in the training facility before time on the tools. Close supervision on every task.

  2. Year 2

    HV knowledge

Switchgear, cable, terminations and the network rules. You start to understand the plant as a system, not a set of tasks.

  3. Year 3

    Supported site exposure

Real scope on live projects with an experienced electrician alongside. More of the job is yours; the check is still there.

  4. Year 4

    Capability and responsibility

Working towards your licence with responsibility to match. From here the pathway continues: HV technician, jointer, commissioning, supervision.

This reflects Nebula’s development pathway. It does not imply automatic qualification or promotion.
